Sir Christopher founded a sugar factory in Antigua in 1674 and has ruled the country's economy for over 200 years. The peninsula then officially became the 1667 British colony. The Codrington family was leased from 1685 to 1860. The people of Antigua were then oppressed by the British, and finally, the struggle for independence began in the 20th century. The movement began for workers' rights. In 1938, Vere C Bird formed the Antigua Trade Union. On November 1st, 1981, the Commonwealth of Nations Antigua and Barbuda became independent states, with Elizabeth as the first Queen of Antigua and Barbuda. Vere C. Bird made him prime minister of Antigua and Barbuda for fighting for workers' rights. Antigua and Barbuda gained independence on November 1st, 1981. more
